CP Rochester to host Goodwill donation drive!

Our thanks to our friends at CP Rochester for hosting a donation drive to be held from Monday, December 21st to Thursday, December 31st. Now is a great time to clean out your closets and de-clutter your life. It’s never been easier!

Just bring in your gently used clothing or household items to the entrance Lobby at CP Rochester.

Christmas Purge

Why does it seem Christmas is all about “stuff?”  This time of year I find it so hard to put out decorations because, well, we already have so much stuff.  Where to put it all?  ‘Tis the season to clear out the stuff and give it to Goodwill.  Besides, once the holidays are over and the decorations go back into storage, you’ll find your new, clutter-free home to be SO refreshing!  Here are some criteria I use to decide what to keep and what to get rid of:

1)  Do I use this?  If the item doesn’t have a function, I seriously consider letting it go.

2)  If I don’t use it often, is there someone I can borrow a similar item from when I do need it?

3)  Is this a cherished item I would pass on to my kids?  Maybe this is something I just need to store, not donate.

4)  Could ABVI-Goodwill get some good cash for this item?

See, the stuff I donate to ABVI-Goodwill goes on the shelves of their stores.  Then, the money it generates funds the amazing programs and services they offer for people who are blind and visually impaired right here in our community.  Really, my clutter is worth the great feeling I get from sharing.  Besides, the receipt I get will come in so handy come tax time!

This Christmas, give yourself the gift of organization.  Get rid of the “stuff” you don’t need.  I promise you’ll have even more room for what really matters.

Golisano Children’s Hospital collects donations for Goodwill!

The staff at Golisano Children’s Hospital, one of our many GoodNeighbor partners, are pitching in to help Goodwill!

On Thursday, December 17th from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM they will be collecting clothing donations to benefit Goodwill at their large employee parking lot on Crittenden Blvd. So clean out your closests, load up your cars and stop by on your way to work to support two great causes with your gently used clothing donations!

Donate with REMAX/First!

With the holidays approaching REMAX/First is doing their part to help those in need in and around our community – and they’re asking for your help!

On Saturday, November 21st they’re collecting donations for ABVI-Goodwill, Catholic Family Center and St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center.

You can donate your gently used clothing, non-perishable food items, and toiletries and paper products at two different locations:

Westside: 101 Canal Landing Blvd. – Greece (10AM – 12PM)
Eastside: 95 Allens Creek Blvd. – Brighton (2PM – 4PM)

So clean out your closets and look in your pantry for items to donate! You can help make a difference!

Waking up with Tony!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support ABVI-Goodwill at the Bagel Bin Cafe this morning with the “Wake up with Tony” morning show!

We had a great time meeting all of you and laughing it up with Tony and the gang. Even Monroe County Sherriff Patrick O’Flynn stopped by to lend his support. Thanks also to First Niagara Bank for donating the bagels to all who gave a clothing donation!

We’re really grateful to The Bagel Bin for their ongoing support of ABVI-Goodwill. They’re collecting donations through the end of the month so don’t forget to drop something off and get a free coffee!

When you donate to ABVI-Goodwill you help our environment!

ABVI-Goodwill helps keep over 2 million pounds of unwanted clothing and household items out of local landfills each year. Our partnership with Waste Management also helps reduce waste of recyclable materials. You even help us create jobs when we repurpose donated materials into quality merchandise that is manufactured for sale in our stores.

We also offer Reconnect, a free program to recycle unwanted computers, in partnership with Dell. We now accept any brand of computer equipment in any condition at each of our eight Goodwill stores. Our goal is to divert more than 300,000 pounds of computer equipment from landfills each year.

Wake up with Tony at the Bagel Bin!

WARM 101.3’s “Wake up with Tony” morning radio team will be broadcasting live from the Bagel Bin Café on Thursday, November 19th. Join Tony Infantino, Kristie Credit and Pat McGonigle from 6:00 AM – 9:30 AM as they put the “give” in Thanksgiving by collecting donations for ABVI-Goodwill!

Anyone who makes a donation will receive a free cup of coffee and a bagel courtesy of First Niagara Bank and the Bagel Bin Café!

So don’t wait! Clean out those closets and bring your donations to the Bagel Bin Cafe and enjoy a free breakfast with “Wake up with Tony!”
